From the Parent and Youth Perspective
I am thrilled to announce the launch of our Promise Advocate Cohort (PAC), a group of dedicated parents coming together to ignite their inherent political power, strengthen their capacity as self-advocates, and take action to create meaningful change rooted in their lived experiences. Over the course of a few sessions, we have already seen rich conversations and incredible engagement. To ensure parents can fully participate, we’re providing meals for them and their children, as well as childcare and transportation as needed. Removing barriers to engagement is one of our top priorities. I am incredibly hopeful for the outcomes of this cohort and excited about the possibility of future groups as well.
Our Parent Council is also reconvening this school year. We are eager to incorporate fresh ideas to engage even more parents from our community. By bringing in diverse perspectives, we aim to stay deeply connected with all parents and caregivers, ensuring their voices are heard.
Lastly, I’m excited to share updates on our recent Annual Education Summit, where I collaborated with inspiring individuals to amplify the voices of our youth. Students presented and shared challenges they’ve faced in their schools and the impact they’ve made. Youth leadership is vital to creating positive change in our schools and community, and we are committed to supporting it in every way we can. Thank you to those who joined us in our session titled Empowering Youth for Leadership in Education to learn more about youth voice in the work of improving educational outcomes and economic mobility for every youth and young adult!
