Improving Youth Programs Through Data
21st Century Community Learning Center YPQAs
Our Data and Research team has been working with the 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) to help check and improve their after-school and weekend programs for local youth.
This winter, C2C visited 11 different program sites around Rochester. We used a tool called the Youth Program Quality Assessment (YPQA) to evaluate how the programs run. This helps us see what's working well and what could be better - like how staff get youth involved, teach skills, and create a supportive place for kids.
In February, we participated in what we call an "M3 Data Huddle” with our Rochester Public Schools partners. Program staff came together to look at the results and other information we had collected. They worked as a team to make plans for improving their programs based on what we found.
These improvements will happen during spring, and we'll check again in the fall to see how things have changed. This process of checking, planning, and improving helps make sure kids in our city have great programs that meet their needs.
Changes to Research Sub-Committee
We have changed how our Data and Research Sub-Committee works to support our goals. This group includes data and research professionals from different organizations across Rochester who help us create quality surveys, share research findings, and provide insights into data collection best practices.
To make better use of everyone's time and knowledge, we've changed our meeting format. Now we'll focus more on the specific projects and test programs that members are working on. This will allow for more focused discussions.
We're excited to keep working with these partners who help make sure our data collection and analysis is done with best practices.
The team didn’t break to take a photo this year, but this image from the 2024 M3 Data Huddle captures the spirit from 2025!
